The One Ring: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild, from Cubicle 7 Entertainment, is a roleplaying game (published in 2011) based on The Lord of the Rings - one of the most influential stories in fantasy. It's set after the events of The Hobbit with the initial game set the region of northern Mirkwood and environs, with future releases expanding the scope of the setting to encompass more of Middle-earth as the era moves closer to the looming War of the Ring. In 2014 a revised ruleset was released, with a free update book for those who own the original core rulebooks.

In November 2019, Cubicle 7 announced that due to 'unresolved contractual difficulties' with Sophisticated Games they have chosen to withdraw from the agreement under which this game is published. This means that a planned (and apparently mostly developed) second edition of the core rules and several supplements are not going to see the light of day. This elegant and thoughful game that reflected the world of The Lord of the Rings so well will be missed.
