Originally designed as a setting for Dungeons & Dragons 3e by Swords and Sorcery Studio (an imprint of White Wolf), the Scarred Lands present an interesting post-apocalypic world where the 'apocalypse' was caused by an all-out war between the Titans (who created the world) and their children, who are gods. Needless to say, they left quite a mess behind which the mortals who live there are still coping with, some one hundred and fifty years later!
The land itself, a world called Scarn, plays quite a major role - as do the battered remnants of Titans and Gods, who are still a significant part of everyday life.
In 2013, Onyx Path Publishing and Nocturnal Media jointly purchased the rights to the setting, and have proceeded to release material for Pathfinder 1e and Dungeons & Dragons 5e. With the growing market of 'community content', the Slarecian Vault collects independently-produced material for the Dungeons & Dragons 5e ruleset. In 2017, following the death of Nocturnal's Stewart Wieck, Onyx Path bought Nocturnal's half of the rights, becoming sole owners of Scarred Lands.
